Chapter 7 Filing Fee - The filing fee for an individual or husband and wife is a total of $299. * (pay directly to the court)

Mandatory Credit Counseling and Debtor Edication - The fee for these services are approximately a total of $110. If you use the Springboard® link provided by this site, there is a savings of up to $20. (See Springboard® information below)

Installment Payment

If the filing fee is not paid in full at the time of filing, the debtor must file an application to pay in installments. Information on this can be found on this site.

Waiver of Filing Fee

The district court or the bankruptcy court may waive the filing fee in a case under chapter 7 for an individual, if the court determines that the individual has income less than 150 percent of the income official poverty line for a family the same size as the individual's family. Information on this can be found on this site.

Counseling and Education Combination Discounts

Counseling and Education - By Telephone (save $10.00)
The fee for a telephone pre-petition counseling session is $55.00. Springboard® offers a reduced rate for clients who return to Springboard® for their pre-discharge debtor education requirement if they elect to declare bankruptcy. The fee for returning clients for debtor education by the telephone is $45.00 plus $4.00 shipping and handling. This is a savings of $10.00 for telephone counseling and debtor education off of our normal fees. These fees are the same for either a single filer or joint filers who attend the same session.

Counseling and Education - By Internet (save $20.00)
The fee for an Internet pre-petition counseling session is $55.00. Springboard® offer a reduced rate for clients who return to Springboard® for their pre-discharge debtor education requirement if they elect to declare bankruptcy. The fee for returning clients for debtor education by the Internet is $35.00. This is a savings of $20.00 for Internet counseling and debtor education off of our normal fees. These fees are the same for either a single filer or joint filers who attend the same session.

Pre-petition Bankruptcy Counseling - By Telephone
The fee for a telephone session by one of Springboard’s® certified credit counselors is $55.00. The fee is good for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Pre-petition Bankruptcy Counseling - By Internet
The fee for an Internet session is $55.00. This fee is the same for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Pre-petition Bankruptcy Counseling - In Person
The fee for an in person session is $55.00. This fee is the same for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Bankruptcy Education

Pre-discharge Debtor Education - By Telephone
The fee for a telephone session is $55.00 + $4.00 S/H. This fee is the same for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Pre-discharge Debtor Education - By Internet
The fee for an Internet session is $55.00. This fee is the same for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Pre-discharge Debtor Education - In Person
The fee for an in Person session is $55.00. This fee is the same for either a single filer or joint filers if both attend the same session.

Fee Waiver Policy

Springboard® will reduce or waive the Pre-petition Bankruptcy Counseling and Pre-discharge Debtor Education fees for debtors whose household income is less than 150% of the estimated poverty threshold for their applicable family size as published by the Bureau of the Census AND the debtor is unable to pay the fee based on the debtor's budget analysis.
